| Who we
are The Greater Manchester Heraldry Society was founded in 1982 to foster interest in the art and science of heraldry, particularly, but not exclusively, in relation to Manchester and the northwest. Membership is open all year and prospective members are invited to contact the secretary so that they may be introduced to the group on their arrival. No prior knowledge is required to be a member, just an interest in what is a fascinating subject. Where we meet The society meets at 2:00pm every first Saturday in the months from October to March in the second floor committee room at the Central Reference Library in Manchester city centre. Meetings normally last an hour or so. During the summer months local visits are arranged to places of interest. The society also produces a newsletter and once a year and a study day is held with the support of the Heraldry Society. This is the highlight of the year and usually held in October when four guest speakers give talks on various aspects of heraldry. |
